2005
Happy Easter! Warm spring weather, with cool mornings in
the 60's and afternoon highs near 80, with mostly clear, sunny
days and calm mornings with afternoon breezes. 2 days of wind
at midweek. Stable water temp 69-72deg. Marlin, dorado, tuna
& roosterfish all active. Still lots of good green mackerel
live bait.
Striped Marlin - the bite is concentrated
in 2 areas, about 5 miles off Punta Pescadero, and south 10
miles offshore from La Ribera to the lighthouse, with fish
taking exclusively live mackerel, either slow-trolled or cast
on tailing marlin.
Tuna - a long boat ride, about 40 miles
straight out from Leonero, with fish 10-20lbs under large
schools of porpoise, taking mostly live bait.
Dorado - a slow week again for dorado, but
some nicer fish to 30lbs were taken, about 10 miles out, spread
throughout the bay, with flylined live bait on light line
working best.
Inside - roosterfish continue to bite aggressively,
with some jacks mixed in, from La Ribera south to Las Baracas,
with fish 10-20lbs taking mostly live mackerel. Commercial
hand-liners continue to take pargo on the reefs off La Ribera.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: March 19, 2005
Nice spring weather, with cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon
highs to the upper 70's, with mostly clear, sunny days and
calm mornings with afternoon breezes. 1 day of wind and overcast
at midweek. Stable water temp 69-72deg. Few boat departures
as the hotel is filled with spring break families. Marlin
north, roosterfish south and the return of tuna at week's
end were this week's highlights. Lots of good green mackerel
live bait.
Striped Marlin - the bite has moved north,
about 10 miles off Punta Pescadero, with fish taking exclusively
live mackerel, either slow-trolled or cast on tailing marlin.
Tuna - under large schools of porpoise north
off Cerralvo, with fish 10-20lbs taking live bait, cedar plugs
and hoochies.
Dorado - conspicuous by their absence. Slower
again this week, with flylined live bait on light line working
best.
Inside - roosterfish biting aggressively,
with some jacks mixed in, from Punta Colorada south to Las
Baracas, taking mostly live mackerel. Commercial hand-liners
continue to take pargo on the reefs off La Ribera.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: March 12, 2005
Nice spring weather, with cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon
highs to the mid 70's, with calm, clear, sunny days and some
afternoon breezes. Variable water temp 69-71deg. Green water
inside has pushed the bite a bit further offshore. Dorado
and striped marlin biting outside, while roosterfish. sierra,
jacks and pargo dominating the inside action.
Striped Marlin - further outside this week,
5-10 miles off the lighthouse. Picky biters, taking exclusively
live bait.
Dorado - slower this week, with fish 10-20lbs
concentrated in the same area as the stripers, off the lighthouse.
Fish are biting more selectively, with flylined live bait
on light line working best.
Inside - roosterfish biting more aggressively,
with sierra and jacks biting from La Ribera south to Las Baracas,
taking mostly live bait. Commercial hand-liners are taking
pargo on the reefs off La Ribera.

More mild weather, with cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon
highs to the mid 70's, with 2 days of overcast Friday and
Saturday. Calm, warm water temp 71-72deg. A wide open striped
marlin bite and limits of dorado topped this week's action.
Lots of good bait available.
Striped Marlin - stripers concentrated about
5 miles straight off La Ribera, taking all bait and lures
- a wide open bite, with nearly all boats releasing multiple
marlin.
Dorado - concentrated 3-5 miles off La Ribera,
limits for all anglers, with fish averaging 15lbs (to 30lbs)
aggressively taking live bait and hoochies.
Inside - lots of roosterfish in the water,
but picky biters, with sierra and jacks biting from La Ribera
south to Las Baracas, with live bait, hoochies and chrome
all producing hookups.

Mild weather continues, it looks like an early spring with
cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon highs to the mid 70's,
with 2 days of clouds during the week, and beautiful calm
sunny conditions returning for the weekend. Warmer temp 71-72deg.
A wide open striped marlin bite, limits of dorado and a strong
roosterfish bite inside topped this week's action.
Striped Marlin - stripers concentrated about
10 miles straight off La Ribera, taking all bait and lures
- a wide open bite. On Saturday 4 boats released 16 stripers.
Dorado - under structure, throughout the
bay, limits for all anglers, with fish to 30lbs aggressively
taking live bait and hoochies.
Inside - roosterfish, sierra and jacks biting
well, from Leonero south to Las Baracas, with live bait, hoochies
and chrome all producing hookups.

Mild weather continues, with cool mornings in the 60's and
afternoon highs to the mid 70's, with partly cloudy skies,
2 days of wind early in the week, rain on Friday, with beautiful
sunny conditions returning for the weekend. Water temp holding
steady at 68-70deg. Limits of dorado, a strong striped marlin
bite, and the return of yellowfin tuna in numbers marked this
week's catch.
Striped Marlin - stripers biting north off
Punta Pescadero, with live bait presented to tailing fish
working best.
Dorado - concentrated off the buoys at Punta
Pescadero, limits for all anglers, with fish to 20lbs aggressively
taking live bait and hoochies.
Tuna - schools of yellowfin are under porpoise,
3-5 miles off La Ribera, with fish to 15-40lbs taking live
bait, hoochies and cedar plugs.
Inside - sierra and jacks biting well, from
Leonero south to Las Baracas, with live bait, hoochies and
chrome all producing hookups.

showers on Friday, and 5 days of calm conditions this week.
Water temp holding steady at 68-70deg. Limits of dorado, a
strong striped marlin bite, and a hot bite inside topped the
fare this week.
Striped Marlin - stripers biting north off
Punta Pescadero, with live bait presented to tailing fish
working best.
Dorado - lots everywhere, limits of school-sized
fish for all anglers, with fish aggressively taking live bait
and hoochies.
Inside - sierra, jacks and roosterfish all
biting, from Leonero south to Las Baracas, with live bait,
hoochies and chrome all producing well.

Mild weather, with cool mornings in the 60's and afternoon
highs in the mid 70's, with partly cloudy skies and calm conditions
most of the week.. Cool water temp 70-72deg. This week's catch
included striped marlin, dorado, sierra and roosterfish.
Billfish - striped marlin north off Punta
Pescadero, taking mostly live bait.
Dorado - schooling dorado off the buoys
at Punta Pescadero, taking live bait and hoochies, with a
few larger fish to 30lbs mixed in.
Inside - Lots of sierra in the mornings
off most area beaches, taking chrome and hoochies, with roosterfish
biting from Leonero south to the lighthouse.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: January 1, 2005
Happy New Year! Mild weather, with cool mornings in the 60's
and afternoon highs near 80, with partly cloudy, calm conditions
all week. Cooling water temp 70-72deg. With the ideal fishing
weather and more guests enjoying the holiday week, more boats
went out, finding more fish.
Billfish - Striped marlin with some sailfish
mixed in are spread north, from Leonero to Punta Pescadero,
5-10 miles out, taking a mix of live bait and trolled lures.
Biting more aggressively this week.
Dorado - Concentrated on the buoys off Punta
Pescadero the last several weeks, averaging 10-15lbs with
some larger bulls to 30lbs mixed in, taking mostly live sardinas,
mackerel and hoochies. Many boats taking limits.
Tuna - School-sized yellowfin were biting
at the tuna hole off Cabo Pulmo, taking mostly weighted live
bait, with some bigger fish to 40lbs mixed in. Very little
pressure, as most boats fishing north for dorado and marlin.
Inside - Lots of sierra, taking live bait,
hoochies and chrome, off most area beaches (1 boat released
22 in 3 hours). Roosterfish also active, from Leonero to the
lighthouse, with many taken by shore fishermen casting live
bait.
