Weekly Fish Report for week ending: December 31, 2005
Happy New Year! Pleasant weather continues with cool mornings
in the mid 50's and very warm afternoon highs near 85. Mostly
nice days all week, with cooler water temp 67-69deg. An active
hot bite, with marlin, big tuna and dorado aggressively biting
with sierra off most area beaches.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin and some
sailfish spread throughout the bay, concentrated in a strip
about 5-10 miles out, from the lighthouse to Punta Pescadero.
Fish biting bait and lures aggressively, with a wide open
bite most days.
Tuna - big tuna with lots of fish 60-80lbs,
with the bite centered about 8-10 miles off La Ribera. Hungry
fish aggressively biting live mackerel, cedar plus and marlin
lures.
Dorado - the strong dorado bite continues
(2-3 per boat), with lots of dorado 5-25lbs spread from the
lighthouse to the buoys off Punta Pescadero, with fish taking
live mackerel, strip bait, hoochies and lures.
Inside - sierra are off most area beaches,
from Leonero south to Las Barracas, taking mostly hoochies.
No pressure as most boats are chasing tuna.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: December 24, 2005
Feliz Navidad! Pleasant weather for this time of year with
cooler mornings in the mid 50's and warmer afternoon highs
near 85. A couple of days of north wind mixed in with some
really nice days, and cooler water temp 70-72deg. Green water,
but the hot bite continues on the calm days, with dorado and
billfish spread throughout the bay, and sierra off most beaches.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin and sailfish
concentrated in the same area, about 3 miles off La Ribera,
with pods of roaming marlin stretching up to Punta Pescadero.
Fish biting bait and lures aggressively, with all you wanted
over the weekend.
Dorado - the strong dorado bite continues,
with lots of dorado 10-15lbs spread from the lighthouse to
the buoys off Punta Pescadero, with fish taking live mackerel,
hoochies and lures.
Inside - sierra are off most area beaches,
from Leonero south to Las Barracas, taking mostly hoochies.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: December 17, 2005
Mild weather with cool mornings around 60 and afternoon highs
near 80, with north wind early in the week with calmer conditions
the last 3 days, and cooler water temp 71-73deg. Great fishing
continues on the calm days, with tuna south, dorado north,
and sierra off most beaches.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin and sailfish
in the same spot, about 5 miles off La Ribera, with little
pressure as most boats are targeting dorado.
Dorado - the strong dorado bite continues,
with lots of dorado 10-15lbs spread from Los Barriles to the
buoys off Punta Pescadero, with fish taking live mackerel,
hoochies and lures.
Tuna - over the weekend a wide-open tuna
bite developed just south of the lighthouse within 1/4 mile
of the beach, with football-sized tuna aggressively taking
hoochies. On Saturday 1 boat took or released 30+ tuna in
2 hours of fishing, with multiple double and triple hookups.
Inside - sierra are off most area beaches,
from Leonero south to Las Barracas, taking mostly hoochies.

Cooler weather with crisp mornings in the 50's and afternoon
highs near 80, with north wind the last 5 days, and cooler
water temp 72-75deg. Great fishing on the calm days early
in the week, with marlin south, dorado north, and sierra off
most beaches.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin and sailfish,
about 5 miles straight off La Ribera. A wide open bite on
the calm days, with fish taking both live mackerel and lures.
Dorado - limits of big dorado to 50lbs (ave
30lbs) at the buoys off Punta Pescadero. As many as you want,
with fish aggressively taking live mackerel, hoochies and
lures.
Inside - sierra are off most area beaches,
from Leonero south to the lighthouse, taking mostly hoochies
and shiny lures.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: December 3, 2005
Mild fall weather with crisp mornings around 60 and afternoon
highs in the low 80's, with north wind 4 days this week, and
cooler water temp 77-79deg. Few fishermen, but still a continuation
of the late season billfish bite, with quality dorado and
sierra topping the list.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin and sailfish,
about 5 miles straight off La Ribera. A wide open bite on
the calm days, with fish taking both live mackerel and lures.
On Saturday, Leonero regular Steve Henry hooked up 3 marlin
and 2 sails in 2 hours of fishing.
Dorado - nice dorado to 50lbs (ave 30lbs)
are still at the buoys off Punta Pescadero, (about 26 miles
due north of Leonero) taking live mackerel, hoochies and lures.
Inside - sierra are off most area beaches,
from Leonero south to the lighthouse, taking mostly hoochies
and shiny lures.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: November 26, 2005
Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! Mild fall weather with crisp
mornings around 60 and afternoon highs in the mid 80's, with
north wind 4 days this week, and water temp holding at 79-80deg.
This last big week of fishing for the season saw a continuation
of the late season billfish bite, lots of quality dorado,
and a beginning of the inshore sierra bite.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin, sailfish
and a few blue marlin, about 5 miles straight off La Ribera.
A steady bite, with fish taking both live mackerel and lures.
Dorado - lots of nice dorado to 50lbs (ave
30lbs) are at the buoys off Punta Pescadero, (about 26 miles
due north of Leonero) taking live mackerel, hoochies and lures.
Inside - sierra started showing up off area
beaches this week, from Leonero south to the lighthouse, taking
mostly hoochies and shiny lures.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: November 19, 2005
Mild fall weather with cool mornings in the mid 60's and
afternoon highs in the mid 80's, with north wind the last
5 days, and cooler water temp at 79-80deg. Fewer fishermen
as the season continues to wind down, but those that ventured
out were rewarded with a strong billfish bite, lots of wahoo
strikes and the return of big dorado on the weekend.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin, sailfish
and some blue marlin, closer in, about 3-5 miles off La Ribera.
A steady bite, with fish taking both live mackerel and lures.
Wahoo - lots of strikes, but few hookups.
Fish are 1-3 miles off Cabo Pulmo, taking marauders, rapalas
and dark colored marlin lures.
Dorado - the same for the last several weeks
(ave.10-20lbs), mostly south off Las Barracas, about 3-5 miles
out, taking live mackerel and lures. On Saturday lots of big
dorado 30-50lbs showed up at the buoys off Punta Pescadero,
taking mackerel and lures.
Inside - with dirty water from the north
wind-caused shore break, little inside action this week.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: November 12, 2005
Happy Veteran's Day Weekend! Typical fall weather continues
with cool mornings in the upper 60's and afternoon highs around
90, with calm blue water most days, some afternoon SE breezes,
and water temp holding steady at 82-83deg. North wind on Saturday.
Lots of wahoo strikes this week, a steady sailfish/striped
marlin bite, with some tuna and dorado mixed in. The giant
squid bite has slowed as the season winds down.
Wahoo - lots of strikes the last several
days with 'hoo to 40lbs hitting the dock daily. Fish are 1-3
miles off Cabo Pulmo, taking marauders, rapalas and dark colored
marlin lures.
Billfish - a mix of striped marlin and sailfish,
about 5-10 miles out, south from Cabo Pulmo to Los Frailes.
A steady bite, with fish taking both live mackerel and lures.
Tuna - fewer fish this week, with some schooling
fish under porpoise, as well as small pods of free swimmers,
about 10 miles out from La Ribera to Cabo Pulmo. Fish 10-25lbs
taking mostly chunk squid.
Dorado - the same for the last several weeks
(ave.10-20lbs), mostly south, from the lighthouse to Cabo
Pulmo, about 5 miles out, taking live mackerel, chunk squid
and lures

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: October 29, 2005
Early fall weather continues with cool mornings in the low
70's and afternoon highs around 90, with calm blue water,
some afternoon SE breezes, and water temp holding steady at
82-84deg. Lots of happy fishermen, with larger and more plentiful
tuna, a steady sailfish/striped marlin bite, and several amberjack
in the 100-lb class. Giant squid off La Ribera and Los Barriles
continue to provide great tuna/dorado bait.
Billfish - the bite moved a bit south this
week, with a mix of striped marlin and sailfish, concentrated
about 10 miles straight off Rancho Leonero. A steady bite,
with fish taking both live mackerel and lures.
Tuna - a strong bite of larger fish this
week, with some schooling fish under porpoise, as well as
small pods of free swimmers, about 10 miles out from La Ribera
to Cabo Pulmo. Lots of fish 30-80lbs taking chunk squid and
live mackerel.
Dorado - the same as last week (ave.10-20lbs),
mostly south, from the lighthouse to Cabo Pulmo, about 5 miles
out, taking live mackerel and chunk squid.
Inside - Big amberjack to 100lbs on the
reefs off La Ribera taking chunk squid. No pressure as most
boats are chasing tuna. Still lots of giant squid on the reefs
off La Ribera and Los Barriles.

Early fall weather continues with cooler mornings in the
low 70's and afternoon highs around 90, with 2 days of north
wind, and water temp holding steady at 82-85deg. Nearly a
carbon copy of last week, with a strong tuna bite, and a continuation
of the steady sailfish/striped marlin bite. Giant squid off
La Ribera and Los Barriles continue to provide great tuna/dorado
bait.
Billfish - the bite remained in the same
area this week, with a 50/50 mix of striped marlin and sailfish,
concentrated about 5 miles off Punta Pescadero. A steady bite,
with most fish taken on lures.
Tuna - a strong bite, but smaller fish this
week, with some schooling fish under porpoise, as well as
small pods of free swimmers, about 10 miles out from La Ribera
to Cabo Pulmo. Tuna averaging 10-20lbs taking chunk squid
and live mackerel.
Wahoo - a few 'hoo this week, taking dark
colored lures, mostly south, from the lighthouse to Cabo Pulmo.
Dorado - the same as last week (ave.10-20lbs),
mostly south, from the lighthouse to Cabo Pulmo, about 5 miles
out, taking live mackerel and chunk squid.
Inside - Some roosterfish off the beaches
from La Ribera to Las Barracas, taking live mullet. A few
amberjack and pargo on the reefs off La Ribera taking chunk
squid. No pressure as most boats are chasing tuna. Still lots
of giant squid on the reefs off La Ribera and Los Barriles.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: October 15, 2005
Fall has arrived, with cooler mornings in the low 70's and
afternoon highs to the low 90's, with calm blue seas, some
afternoon breezes, with cooling water temp 82-85deg. TUNA-TUNA-TUNA!
The last few days have seen a surge in the tuna bite; our
best week this year for wahoo, and a continuation of the sailfish/striped
marlin bite marked the week. Giant squid off La Ribera and
Los Barriles continue to provide great tuna/dorado bait.
Billfish - the bite moved north this week,
with a 50/50 mix of striped marlin and sailfish, concentrated
about 5 miles off Punta Pescadero. A steady bite, with most
fish taken on lures.
Tuna - a strong bite, with some schooling
fish under porpoise, as well as small pods of free swimmers,
about 10 miles out from La Ribera to Cabo Pulmo. Lots of nice

mackerel.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: October 8, 2005
Typical October weather, with mornings in the upper 70's
and afternoon highs to the mid 90's, with calm blue seas,
some afternoon SE breezes, with cooler water temp 83-86deg.
A slow bite at the beginning of the week, as we recovered
from last week's storm, with normal conditions returning by
the weekend. A continued good billfish bite and large tuna
closer in highlighted the week. Giant squid off La Ribera
and Los Barriles continue to provide great tuna/dorado bait.
Billfish - the bite remained active this
week, with a mix of blue marlin, striped marlin and sailfish,
spread throughout the bay, about 10-15 miles out. A steady
bite, with most fish taken on lures. 1 swordfish taken on
a trolled lure on the afternoon trip in.
Tuna - fish have moved closer in, at the
tuna hole off Cabo Pulmo, with lots of nice fish 30-60lbs,
taking chunk squid, hoochies and cedar plugs.
Dorado - smaller fish again this week (10-20lbs),
mostly south, from the lighthouse to Cabo Pulmo, taking live
mackerel and chunk squid.
Inside - Roosterfish to 60lbs off the beaches
from La Ribera to Las Barracas, taking live mullet. Lots of
giant squid on the reefs off La Ribera and Los Barriles.

Weekly Fish Report for week ending: October 1, 2005
More dry, hot weather at the beginning of the week, with
mornings near 80 and afternoon highs about 100, with calm
blue seas, some afternoon SE breezes, with hot water temp
88-91deg. Hurricane Otis brought some rain but no wind over
the weekend, with 1 day of no fishing (Friday). A continued
strong billfish bite and lots of tuna highlighted the week.
Giant squid off La Ribera and Los Barriles are providing great
tuna/dorado bait.
Billfish - the bite remained active this
week, with a mix of blue marlin, striped marlin and sailfish,
spread throughout the bay, about 10-15 miles out. A steady
bite, with most fish taken on lures. 1 black marlin (300lbs)
released.
Tuna - same as last week - a long boat ride
to the Gordo Banks, where the tuna bite is hot, with lots
of larger fish 30-60lbs, taking squid, hoochies and cedar
plugs. Smaller tuna closer in off La Ribera,
Dorado - smaller fish this week (10-20lbs),
mostly south, from the lighthouse to Cabo Pulmo, taking live
mackerel and chunk squid.
Wahoo - a few 'hoo came in this week, taken
mostly on dark colored lures.
Inside - no pressure this week, as most
fishermen are working the outside bite. Roosterfish to 30lbs
off the beaches from La Ribera to Las Barracas, taking live
mullet. Lots of giant squid on the reefs off La Ribera and
Los Barriles.
