I just wanted to thank you and the staff at Rancho Leonero
for making our fishing trip such a wonderful experience. As
you may remember from our conversations this was a very special
trip for my dad, brother & I. My dad is in the middle
of chemo treatment for lung cancer and postponed his treatment
to go on this trip with us. I am happy to say that it is in
remission and he is doing better each week. We had a great
week of fishing, caught lots of Yellow fin and even a little
Stripped Marlin and a Dorado. The crew on the Baja Sueno was
top-notch; Fidel really knows the cape well and was easy to
communicate with. I've been coming down to RL for 5 years
now with the Bonas company on our annual trips, but you can
be sure that we will be doing some more family trips as well.
They want to start making it a tradition for years to come.
The bungalow (unit 21) was fantastic, sitting out on the
patio and enjoying the beautiful evenings was a great way
to relax after fishing. My sincere hope is that the property
never changes, the charm of the place is truly unique.
P.S. A special thanks to Jorge at the bar for his Sal y Limon
concoction which settled my stomach after a night of too many
margaritas.

Thanks again for another awesome trip to the fisherman’s paradise.
Our group of four crazy fishermen had a great time catching
tuna on our bass rods! That was wild! We also caught Dorado,
Triggerfish, Skipjack, Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, and a bunch
other fish to keep us busy. The Takagi brothers even had double
Marlins jigging Megabaits! Catching Roosters from the kayaks
were also a blast!!
We were really fortunate to have Dennis Spike take great
care of us and were honored to meet John Ireland. John gave
us the tip to use 20lb line to catch those tuna and was
also a great host.
Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!!

In August, Ed and I spent 10 wonderful days at the Ranch.
Everything was just perfect. Fishing with Guillermo was
outstanding. Mike, kudos to you. especially your awesome
tuna sushimi recipe to die for!!! Everyone on staff is MORE
than accommodating.
Every detail was covered! For example, upon arrival, after
traveling from PA and checking in after midnight, dinner
was waiting in the oven for us!! That was just the tip of
the iceberg, so to speak. Personal attention is the name
of your game and you do it very well! We will return!!!
Thanks so much.

My name is Gabriel Martinez; I am a 7th grade student
in Chandler, AZ. I have been living in Arizona for
six years. I enjoy traveling and go fishing in the
ocean.
Every year my dad would go to Rancho Leonero and he would
bring back tons of fish. Earlier this year my dad
realized I was old enough to be going to the Ranch.
In the middle of July my dad and I went to Rancho Leonero.
I was so excited.
The day we got there we fished from a kayak. We caught
two cabrilla and many triggerfish. The next two days
we fished from a cruiser. Over the two days we ended
up keeping 12 small yellowfin tuna, two cabrilla, two pargo,
a nice bull dorado, and a small marlin the tail wrapped.
We also caught a nice wahoo. It is on your website
in July, it is on the far right six rows down.
I would like to tell you how nice your resort and staff
are. I would also like to compliment how good your
food was. It was the best food I've ever had.
Your boat captains were also very good at finding the fish.
Thanks for giving me such a great memory that I will never
forget.
Sincerely,
Gabriel Martinez

Our 5 day trip ended on Aug. 31st and we were able to get
out of the airport before the hurricane hit. Our fishing
experience in the days preceding was exceptional. Armando
put us on all the tuna we wanted, dorado and huge roosters
that we were happy to see swim away. Paco was the best from
the beginning and I've never had my fish taste better than
when it was prepared by Mike. The three of us shared an
oceanfront room with incredible views and both of us girls
felt very welcome in the bar at night. We had a blast, morning
to night. Can't wait to get back and see everyone. I still
have the Spike experience in front of me. On behalf of myself
and my friends, "Daddy" and Wife #2, a sincere Thank you.
We are planning a trip back in October. See you then!

John,
I just wanted to write a short note concerning our stay
Aug 16-20. We have in the past stayed at [another Eastcape
resort] which is larger, and has a few more amenities. However
the personal service we received at the ranch more than
made up the difference. Your resort is cleaner, the food
is top notch, the boats and crews we dealt with put us on
the fish every time. I met Gary at the ranch, and he made
sure everything ran smoothly. I just want you to know that
Mike (the chef) went out of his way to accommodate our dining
wishes. Thanks to him and Paco for giving us the boat we
wanted....
Thanks again for a Epic vacation. I will be back

Hi
We had a wonderful time at your resort in May. I am now
just getting around to sending you an email. Sorry it took
so long. If you go to www.myspace.com/mushroomhunter
you can see a slide show from your resort and surrounding
areas. Hope you like the pictures. We loved your resort
and can't wait to come back soon. Thank you for hosting
such a special place.
Kindest Regards,

Gary Barnes-Webb -
Rancho Leonero is such a great place. I am trying hard
to be your most frequent visitor. I will be back in August
to see if I can improve on my fishing skills. I purchased
Dennis Spikes kayak DVD at your office during my last trip,
and was very impressed at the quality and content. I see
Dennis helping everyone at the Ranch, and I am sure everyone
is thankful for his help.
Rancho Leonero's new chefs Mike and Lisa are doing a great
job. Taking the food up a notch and the addition of the
wine list is such a nice touch. Of course it is always fun
talking to you Gary, along with Nick and your occasional
cast of characters.
Thanks to all of you that work so hard to make a remote
ranch such a great place to get away.

John,
I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your generosity.
Jeff Adams and Chris Hays have been telling me about the
ranch since their last trip. I thought they were just trying
to sell me on coming with them. Well, I could not have been
more wrong. The ranch is everything it was described to
be. The staff was friendly, helpful and the fishing was
great.
You have built something you can be proud of for years
to come. Once again, thank you for everything you did. It
was a great trip and I plan on doing it again next year.
If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to get
a hold of me.
Your Friend,
Dave Hamel

Gary & John:
Another great week on the Cortez. I cannot say enough about
the service and accommodations at the Ranch. With the hotel
full and the temperatures up, the crews and staff were exceptional
under pressure. One of these days I'm going to learn how
to actually land one of those marlin the Leonero crews keep
getting me hooked up with. ( I think I've developed a case
of South African dropsy.)
I also wanted to congratulate the two of you on your success
in changing the attitudes of the crews regarding the release
of bill fish. I've been fishing at the Ranch for over ten
years. This is the first year that we were not even asked
if we wanted to keep a marlin. This year the option was
whether or not to photograph the fish prior to release.
I think all your hard work and encouragement has paid off
and thanks to you I can look forward to my grandchildren
emailing me pictures of their marlin from Rancho Leonero.
Can't wait come back. Keep a Pacifico on ice.

Gary,
Just thought I'd drop you a line to tell you how much we
enjoyed our days at RL. Although we had some tough luck
with catching lots of fish for the coolers, we did manage
quite well on the stripped marlin (5 landed) and the rooster
(1 landed , at least a 50 pounder, and one lost). Not great
for 4 days but one day was very rough and that was the day
we decided to go offshore for about 25 miles. Bad decision,
but that's life.
The whole set up was first class. Food, rooms, staff, pool,
grounds, etc. everything was wonderful. We are done trying
any other outfits on the EC. Rancho Leonero will get all
our business from now on. It is a great operation. Thanks
for arranging a great trip for us.
