Golden Cow-Nosed Rays
We were joined this week by
Jim and Leslie from Chicago, they were keen to return
for another look under the Sea of Cortez having been
here several years previously. As the week progressed
so conditions changed, temperatures rose from 66'
Fahrenheit at the beginning of the week to 75' by the
final day, a considerable rise necessitating a change
to a thinner wetsuit! Visibility also rose from 20
feet to 60 feet, hopefully we'll experience even more
improvements as the following week continues.
Yesterday I dove the shallow reef at Rancho Buena
Vista, it was gorgeous! Andrew and Rita Yau were
making their first ever dive, the water was blue and
filled with Yellow Snapper and Burrito Grunts. Three
Golden Cow-Nosed Rays slowly glided by as we lay on
the sand; we made no hurried movements and they
continued to circle us from a short distance, just
beautiful and a great introduction to the underwater
world!
